The Coffee Daily & CNY Flower Market

After more than 2 weeks in Singapore, I’m still suffering from jetlag and wide-awake at 2.45am! :( Instead of tossing around in bed, I’ve decided to write a short post on what I had been up to yesterday while they’re still fresh in my head.

My day started with brunch at Blackbird Cafe, The Luxe.  Blackbird seems to be the default meeting venue for Ming and I.  Didn’t snap any photos, but it’s a nice hideaway near The Cathay and very conducive for long chats. I’m really thankful to have grown closer to Ming back in London and this time round, I’m extremely excited to learn about her happy updates :)

Thereafter, it was tea at The Coffee Daily at Serangoon Gardens Estate.  Like most Singaporeans, I’m attracted to quaint cafes which are located away from the mainstream malls.  Incidentally, The Coffee Daily is one such cafe with a vintage touch! Love how they use old-school trays as table tops and serve my beloved childhood jeweled biscuits (remember those little round biscuits with various brightly-coloured icings on top?). In particular, I like their chocolate truffle cake and Gryphon’s Nymph of the Nile white tea :)001 Collage (1)

Apart from the delicious cakes and beverages, the company was great – my fabulous UOB Management Associate friends!  Just realise that we’ve known one another for a decade – who says you can’t make lasting friendships in the workplace?  As usual, conversations were great and filled with laughters. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon!IMG_3928

Before rushing off to meet mummy, I went to pay the deposit for my family’s reunion dinner at Wah Lok. Phew!  I count myself incredibly lucky for being able to secure a table when it’s less than a week to Chinese New Year (CNY).  Somehow, this year, I have the craving for traditional CNY dishes and Wah Lok generally serves good Chinese cuisines :)  Looking forward!

Dinner was at Sushi Tei with my favourite salmon and hotate sashimi!  After which, it was time for CNY “flower market” shopping!IMG_3952

Mummy insisted that CNY would be incomplete without fresh blooms in the house.  Regardless, shopping for the flowers really made me feel that the Spring Festival is just around the corner!   001 collage (1)001 collage (1)

It’s almost 4am. Time to catch some sleep before skyping with Querido in 3 hours :)
