Where the land ends and the sea begins…

… is Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Continental Europe!  The cape is located within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and about 40km away from Lisbon.  Querido and I headed there over the weekend to enjoy the fresh Atlantic breeze, while “seeking refuge” from the 38 degree celsius Lisbon.  Absolutely refreshing and I totally enjoyed the trip!001 collage (1)

Cabo da Roca is also where I truly comprehended the phrase “where the sea meets the sky”.  The blurred horizon and lovely shades of blue were soooo poetic.  Simply surreal!  Can’t imagine that I just made my maiden trip there, after having been to Portugal so many times over the past 2 years.  What have I been missing!IMG_1431IMG_1436

En route, we also stopped briefly at Sintra.  According to the UNESCO website, “the cultural landscape of the Serra and the town of Sintra represents a pioneering approach to Romantic landscaping that had an outstanding influence on developments elsewhere in Europe.”  Sintra was infested with tourists, though I personally wouldn’t classify it as a “must go” place.001 collage (1)001 collage (1)

And before signing off, I really have to praise Querido (yet again) for constantly surprising me with his culinary skills.  When I was missing Asian food, I had Thai jasmine rice with his rendition of spicy chicken.  When I craved for prawns, I had fresh pasta with peeled prawns.  And the best part, the dishes are catered for my “less salt, less oil” tastebud.  Lucky me :)001 greeting (1)
